R-Controlled "a" Spelling Words

R-controlled vowels are vowels followed by the letter r and no longer makes the short or long vowel sound because the letter r controls the vowel sound. In this worksheet, the student will practice with r-controlled vowel 'a' spelling words. Make sure the student is practicing saying the words to hear how the vowel sound changes when controlled by the letter r. Be sure to use the word bank and photos for clues. You can always make learning fun by allowing them to color the photos.
